Hike Conditions

Safety notice and terms

Version 1, October 9, 2026.

This is an estimate

Hike Conditions estimates snow and ice from weather forecasts and models. It is not an observation, a forecast by a government agency, an avalanche forecast, or advice. It can be wrong, out of date, or miss a hazard entirely. Mountain conditions change within hours.

You decide, and you are responsible

The information here is a safety check to help you prepare. It is never permission to go and never a statement that a trail is safe. Whether you go, where you turn around, what gear you bring and whether you know how to use it are your decisions and your responsibility. Winter travel on these mountains can kill, including people who are experienced and equipped.

Always check other sources

Before every trip, check the National Weather Service forecast, the Forest Service or State Park alerts and closures, and the newest reports from people who were there. We link them on every peak page. If a trail is closed, it is closed.

No warranty, limits of liability

The site and its information are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness or fitness for a purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, Hidden Planet and the people who build Hike Conditions are not liable for any injury, death, loss or damage arising from using or relying on the site.

Emergencies

Call 911. Much of these mountains has no cell signal; carry a satellite messenger and tell someone your route and turn-around time.
